While working in the financial industry, Margy chaired the City of Jacksonville Mayor’s Olympic Development Committee, the Jacksonville and the Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau Sports Marketing Committee, and was appointed by Florida Governor Jeb Bush to the Governor’s Task Force for Olympics. As a result of her committee work, Jacksonville was a host training site for 165 Olympic and Paralympic athletes prior to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, and has hosted several internationally sanctioned sport competitions. Margy has been an adjunct visiting professor in Flagler College’s Sport Management Department (St. Augustine FL) and has served as an advisory board member of the College’s Sport Management Department. Currently she serves on Bethany College’s Alumni Council’s development committee, and chairs the Council’s Career Preparation Day for juniors and seniors. Margy received a B.A. in Sports Communication from Bethany College, West Virginia, an M.S. in Sport Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. (Marketing Management concentration) from Clayton University. At the intercollegiate level Margy played and coached softball and soccer. She interned at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (Reston, VA) and served a two-year stint as an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer. At an early age Margy began attending NFL Pittsburgh Steelers, MLB Pittsburgh Pirate and NHL Pittsburgh Penguin games. Her exposure to these competitions set the stage for a life long love of sport and a keen desire to build a career in sport management and marketing. She continues her allegiance to Pittsburgh’s Black and Gold teams from her St. Augustine Beach, Florida home where she enjoys beach walks and a variety of outdoor recreation and leisure activities. |
